Primary
Pupils are set the task of creating a piece of music to accompany a short (1 minute) cartoon. Pupils are expected to explain their choice of instruments, tempo and mood as appropriate to the film's timeline.
The short cartoon is broken into six 10 second sections, each different in tone and pace and pupils are expected to create a piece of music that reflects the changes.
In this short session (up to 2 hours) pupils are introduced to the software Audacity and are tasked with creating a short radio programme. Pupils record a script, add jingles and sound effects and background music.
Adventure Island is an online writing project that can be done with the entire class. It has been designed so that you can create an island that other people are able to visit and explore. You can create descriptions for each area of your island, and these can be written in either the style of a story, diary or guide.
Beyond the school gates, writing is essentially a purposeful activity, undertaken to get things done. Within them, the purpose of writing is essentially circular: we ask pupils to write in order to develop their writing, or to test or consolidate their understanding. This does not convince all pupils of the relevance or interest of written work.
This session allows students to develop and create an online writing project using a Wikispace.
This wiki has the aim of promoting collaborative writing and providing a test area where students can do that.
