The virtual artroom has some great resources, including interactive lessons to use with your whiteboard. It is a not-for-profit website that offers free resources for art and design teachers or students, mainly at key stages 3 and 4.
Mr Picassohead
Mr Picassohead allows you to create a Picasso masterpiece of your own! It's a lovely way of pupils replicating a pastiche quickly and easily. If you want a quick way of showing an art style this has a lot going for it!
Pavement drawings
Julian Beever is an English chalk artist who has been creating trompe-l'œil chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the mid-1990s. His works are created using a projection called anamorphosis, and create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the right angle.
Besides this pavement art, Beever also paints murals and replicas of the works of masters and oil paintings, and creates collages. He works as a freelance performance artist and creates murals for companies. He has worked in the UK, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Spain, the U.S. and Australia.
His work is quirky and inspirational and allows pupils to see how clever and powerful even temporary art can be.
Gimp Shop
GIMPshop is a modification of the free/open source graphics program GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), intended to replicate the feel of Adobe Photoshop. Its primary purpose is to make users of Photoshop feel comfortable using GIMP. Or, according to the developer:"My original purpose for GIMPshop was to make the Gimp accessible to the many Adobe Photoshop users out there. I hope I’ve done that. And maybe along the way, I can convert a Photoshop pirate into a Gimp user."
